Apple Cranberry Crisp

A blend of apples will give the best flavour and texture of the season. One standout combination: creamy McIntosh for old-world apple flavour and crisp Royal Galas for texture and sweetness.


Apple Cranberry Crisp



  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup rolled oats, quick or whole
  • 1/2 cup (175 ml) brown sugar, packed
  • ¼ cup honey, maple syrup, or corn syrup
  • 2-4 tbsp salted butter
  • 3 large BC Tree Fruits McIntosh apples
  • 3 large BC Tree Fruits Royal Gala apples (any single variety or mix of apples will work nicely.)
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch or flour
  • 2 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 cup (125 ml) cranberries, fresh, frozen, or dried

  • STEP 1

    Pulse flour, sugar, honey, and butter in food processor until butter is just mixed in.  Add oats and pulse just once.

  • STEP 2

    Peel (optional!), core, and slice apples, toss with cornstarch and lemon juice. 

  • STEP 3

    Lightly butter (or spray) a 9 x 13 inch baking dish, add apple/cranberries.

  • STEP 4

    Sprinkle, but do not press, the oatmeal streusel atop the apples.

  • STEP 5

    Bake at 350° F for one hour until topping is toasted and apples are tender. Let stand for 5 minutes before serving.
