Bartlett pears have clear, yellow skin when ripe. Their flesh is juicy and sweet with a fine-grained, smooth texture. They’re downright delicious on their own and, because they keep their flavour even after heating, they’re a natural for canning.

Quick Tip for Bartlett:

The Bartlett is slightly green when picked. Upon ripening, this aromatic pear has a tender, clear yellow skin.
Place in brown paper bag at room temperature to ripen (placing an apple in the bag will speed up the process).
Store in refrigerator unwashed for up to a week.
